About Ai Kuroda-Khaliq​​

Mrs. Ai Kuroda-Khaliq started her musical journey at the tender age of 5, in Kanagawa, Japan.  Her mother was her first piano teacher and has helped her musical training throughout her life.  Once here in the United States, Mrs. Kuroda-Khaliq auditioned and was accepted to the world famous Juilliard School Pre-College division. 

​Mrs. Kuroda-Khaliq has played solo concertos with Atlantic Classical Orchestra in Florida and has also played with various members of New York’s classical music elite.  She has performed with such great musicians as Ani Kavafian, Timothy Eddy, Paul Neubauer and retired Cleveland Symphony cellist Jorge Sicre.  Mrs. Kuroda-Khaliq has played on such famed stages as the Walter Reade Theater, the Peter Jay Sharpe Theater, Paul Hall, Morse Hall at Lincoln Center and Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall.  Also, the Union Club Hall, the Japanese American Association recital hall, the Harris Concert Hall in Aspen, Colorado, the Indian River Youth Music Festival at the Center for the Arts in Florida, Lutheran Ichigaya Center Hall and Ouji Hall in Tokyo, Japan have enjoyed the beautiful music that Mrs. Kuroda-Khaliq has made.


Mrs. Kuroda-Khaliq has felt a deep commitment to education since her college years and has carried her focus in performance to a career in piano and music education.  She has held educational lecture-recitals for elementary school students at P.S. 249 in Brooklyn and students of all ages at the Harlem School of the Arts.  Mrs. Kuroda-Khaliq was a celebrated faculty member of the Belle School of Music in Westchester, New York for 10 years.  She has served as a program director and an instructor for the piano program for a non for profit organization, Change For Kids, for three years.  She was also a graduate assistant for applied music instruction in Teachers College, Columbia University.  In 2010, she created a private music studio, Appassionata Music Studio, that serves students from the New York City and Westchester areas. 


But this was just the beginning of her devoted experiences in teaching.  She has also sought to educate musicians in the discipline on string performance.  Mrs. Kuroda-Khaliq has assisted the Change for Kids violin program for their annual concerts and benefit performances.  Mrs. Kuroda-Khaliq has also assisted with the writing, along with her husband, of a volume in string education, titled "Tools for the Modern Violinist."

​Mrs. Kuroda-Khaliq has received her Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from the Juilliard School and her Master of Arts degree in music education from the Teachers College, Columbia University. 
 

About Ivanka Petkovich

Ms. Ivanka Petkovic is a classically trained pianist and singer and has a Masters Degree from Music Academy of Belgrade, Serbia. 

During her studies in Serbia, she has performed with various instrumentalists and opera singers.  Ivanka has recorded the works of Rachmaninoff with soprano Dunja Simic for TV Belgrade in 1991.


Ivanka Petkovic has been teaching piano and vocal students of all ages for 30 years.  She has music students who have majored in Music Theory and composition.  She is also an active performer specializing in accompanying singers.  She is a church organist and a Music director. 
 

Ivanka believes that everybody has musical ability and that it is never too late to start the music lessons.
